Neighborhood
If Piazza Duomo is the historic center of Milan, Piazza Gae Aulenti represents its new face, a symbol of the city that is changing and looking to the future. Designed by Argentine architect Cesar Pelli and inaugurated in 2012, the Piazza is part of one of Europe's largest and most important urban redevelopment projects. A circular plaza about 80 meters in diameter with an area of 2,300 square meters, raised 10 meters above the street with three levels in between. In 2016 it was honoured by the Landscape institute as one of the most beautiful squares in the world, including in terms of innovation and environmental protection.
Getting around
There are 2 subway lines nearby (the stop is Garibaldi FS, served by MM2 and MM5); Garibaldi is also a train station served by TreNord and Passante ferroviario; there are direct train connections to Malpensa airport (40 minutes) and RHO FIERA MILANO (13 minutes), to Turin, Florence, Rome, and Naples.
The apartment is a stone's throw from the new Porta Nuova area with its new Gae Aulenti Square. We are two minutes from Corso Como and the Garibaldi area and very close to Brera.
The whole area is full of bars, cafes, restaurants and fashion stores. RED, Feltrinelli and Eataly are all a few minutes away, as is the Anteo cinema, which also regularly screens films in the original language.
